A 39-year-old man pleaded guilty Friday to sexually assaulting two young girls he lived with in Santa Ana and was immediately sentenced to six years in prison.
Benjamin Perezpena pleaded guilty to two felony counts of lewd acts on a minor younger than 14. As part of the plea deal, two counts of sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger were dismissed along with a count of lewd acts on a minor younger than 14, all felonies.
Perezpena was credited with 1,507 days in jail awaiting trial.
The victims came forward to police in June of 2020. They told police the defendant was their aunt’s boyfriend who lived with them for eight or nine years, according to testimony at his preliminary hearing.
One of the girls said she was first molested when she was 6 years old. The other girl said she was molested when she was 3 to 4 years old. The victims were molested in September 2009 and March 2008, police said.
