Authorities were working Tuesday to arrest a murder suspect barricaded in the south Los Angeles area near Gardena.
The suspect, described only as a male, led officers on a vehicle chase to the area of 164th Street and Vermont Avenue about 10 a.m., and he got out of the vehicle and ran off, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police set up a perimeter in the area, and SWAT team personnel were sent to the scene, where the suspect was believed to be barricaded in a building, according to the LAPD and broadcast reports.
The search was continuing early Tuesday afternoon.
No details were immediately available on the killing in which the person is suspected.
