A warrant was issued Friday for the arrest of a 22-year-old man charged with murder in Santa Ana two years ago.
Mateo Jerome Paul failed to show in court Friday, so a fugitive warrant was issued.
Paul was charged Feb. 3, 2022, with one count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the discharge of a gun causing death.
Paul was accused of killing 18-year-old Zion Gonzalez of Moreno Valley on Jan. 22, 2022..
Officers were dispatched at 10:40 p.m. Jan. 22, 2022, to the nightclub in the 300 block of West Fifth Street, police said.
The shooting occurred during the establishment’s open mic night, police said.
