Los Angeles Fire Department boat crews Sunday were attempting to upright a vessel that capsized near the Port of Los Angeles.

The incident was reported about 5:20 p.m. Sunday, according to department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

A Los Angeles County Lifeguard Boat picked up six people from the sinking vessel to transport to Fire Station 110 for medical assessment by LAFD paramedics, said Prange.

All the patients were considered to be in minor to moderate condition, he said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
