A 34-year-old man suspected with others in a series of cargo thefts resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in merchandise being packed into a Good Hope warehouse was out of custody Monday.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department personnel on Thursday night served a warrant at the warehouse in the 24000 block of Highway 74, near West Ellis Avenue, following an investigation into a suspected “cargo theft ring,” Sgt. Miguel Ramos said.

“Over 160 pallets of stolen merchandise, ranging from food products to industrial-grade tools, were seized,” Ramos said. “The recovered stolen property was valued over $1.4 million.”

Rajdeep Singh of Jurupa Valley, a truck driver, was at the location, but the depth of his knowledge and participation in the suspected ring were unknown, according to the sergeant.

Singh was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside Thursday on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released Friday morning after posting a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.

“This is an ongoing investigation, and deputies are working to … (identify) additional suspects,” Ramos said.

How the warehouse operation was uncovered and other details were not disclosed.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s dispatch center at 951-776-1099.
