Arraignment was postponed Wednesday for a 24-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his 7-year-old brother at the family’s home in Whittier.

Cristian Gutierrez is now scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in a Downey courtroom on the attempted murder charge, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The charge includes allegations that he inflicted great bodily injury and used a knife during the crime, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Gutierrez is accused of attacking the boy at around 10 p.m. last Thursday during a family dispute at a home in the 9500 block of Ben Hur Avenue.

Sheriff’s officials said the boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Gutierrez was arrested and jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted as charged, prosecutors said.
