A homeless man was arrested for allegedly pistol whipping and firing at another homeless man during a dispute in Compton, authorities said Saturday.
No one was injured during the dispute, a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Compton station told City News Service.
Deputies were dispatched at about 8 p.m. Friday to South Sportsman Drive and Atlantic Avenue, near an underpass for the Long Beach (710) Freeway. The suspect had fired at the victim and ran into a “fortified encampment” in that area, according to the watch commander.
A search of the encampment located the suspect hiding in a tree and a K-9 unit was used to assist the man out of the tree and into custody, authorities said.
No further information was immediately available.
