Sheriff’s detectives Saturday were investigating the shooting death of a man in the driveway of a Monrovia home.
The shooting occurred at 9:20 p.m. Friday, according to a statement by the Monrovia Police Department. The location was reported as the area of Shamrock and Lemon avenues.
Police said a woman phoned dispatchers saying a man with a restraining order on him was at her home and armed with a knife.
Arriving officers found a man dead with a gunshot wound, officials said. A firearm was recovered at the scene and the woman was detained, but no arrests were immediately made.
The case was turned over to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau for investigation, police said.
