A fire at a one-story house in South Los Angeles was extinguished in 19 minutes Wednesday evening.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded at approximately 10:25 p.m. to 8764 S. Hobart Blvd. east of Western Avenue ,where they found the home engulfed on flames. After several failed attempts to enter the house, they gained entry through the roof and began to knock down the flames, said LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.

It took 36 firefighters to extinguish the fire. Crews will remain at the scene overnight for overhaul work.

There was no one home at the time on the fire, Lantz said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Lantz.
