A wind-driven vegetation fire raced across nearly 390 acres of brush Wednesday in an unincorporated area north of Lancaster, but no injuries or structural damage were reported.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, firefighters responded to the brusher around 3:25 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 60th Street West and West Avenue C. The fire burned in light to moderate vegetation, with gusting winds in the area primarily driving the flames.
Crews attacked the blaze on the ground and with the help of multiple water-dropping helicopters.
By about 6 p.m., fire officials said the blaze was generally “under control,” although crews continued efforts to fully douse the flames.
It was unclear what sparked the fire.
