Firefighters kept a Santa Clarita brush fire small but it spread into the attic of an apartment complex in its path Saturday.

The so-called Olga Fire was first reported at 11:44 a.m. Saturday in the area of Grape Lily Circle and Valle del Oro, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Fred Fielding told City News Service.

Firefighters arrived on the scene in four minutes and stopped the forward spread at 1.4 acres a t 12:34 p.m., Fielding said.

The fire spread into the attic of a nearby apartment complex, damaging five units and affecting 12 residents, he said.

There was no need to rescue anyone, he said.

Firefighters have been busy in that area Saturday working to keep brushfires small, Fielding said.

A roughly three-and-half-acre fire was reported about 12:45 p.m. in the 16500 block of West Sierra Highway, northeast of Santa Clarita, he said. The forward spread was stopped in about half an hour.
