Los Angeles police officers were dispatched to a downtown Los Angeles street after a brawl broke out in the aftermath of Colombia’s loss to Argentina in the Copa America soccer final, which was played in Miami.
There was a “large group of people fighting at 847 S. Union Ave.,” Los Angeles Police Department Officer D. Orris in the Operations Center told City Service. The call for service was at 7:32 p.m. Sunday.
He received no information about injuries.
A news videographer at the scene said it appeared hundreds of people were involved in the fight and that there were some serious injuries.
Orris said he could confirm two people were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries but that officials were not sure whether they were attacked or injured in the crowd.
