A fire at a storage yard that extended to a single-story commercial building in the Florence area was quickly knocked down Wednesday with no reported injuries.
The fire was reported at about 12:40 p.m. in the 800 block of East 73rd Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
It took 49 firefighters working in defensive mode to contain the flames to the structure of origin.
“The intense heat caused flames to penetrate the adjacent (vacant) commercial building, where firefighters made interior access and fought back the encroaching flames from inside,” Prange said.
It was unclear what sparked the fire.
