An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.7, followed by an aftershock with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5, struck near Barstow just after 1 p.m. Monday but was felt as far west as the Los Angeles area, including Burbank and Pasadena.

“It was quick rolling and a bump,” one Burbank resident said. “Felt like a truck.”

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in the L.A. area.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said it has not been placed on earthquake mode.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the initial rumble struck just after 1 p.m. It was centered about 13.6 miles east northeast of Barstow and was at a depth of seven kilometers.

The first aftershock it at 1:03 p.m., the USGS said.
