Authorities sought the public’s help Wednesday to find the hit-and-run motorist responsible for fatally injuring a pedestrian in the south Los Angeles area.

Latesha Washington, 43, was struck by a white sedan at about 10 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Central Avenue and 88th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim, violating the law,” an LAPD statement said. “Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

LAPD South Traffic Division detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect’s vehicle, police said.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps authorities solve a fatal hit-and-run.
