Police recovered a handgun at a shooting Sunday morning in Long Beach and a suspect connected to the shooting was subsequently arrested, authorities said.
Officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Linden Avenue at about 1:35 a.m., the Long Beach Police Department reported.
An investigation revealed that two groups were involved in an argument when a security guard spotted a suspect with a handgun.
“During an attempt to disarm him, the firearm discharged,” according to a police statement. “All of the subjects and suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Officers recovered the firearm.”
Police were notified a short time later that a man had self-transported to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. It was determined he was the suspect from the shooting, and he was arrested, police said. No other injuries were reported.
