A fire that scorched about 25 acres of brush Wednesday in the Castaic area was about 50% contained, authorities said.
The fire was reported early Wednesday near the Lake Hughes Road offramp from the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol, which reported that a section of Lake Hughes Road was closed in the area.
“Forward progress has stopped …,” Angeles National Forest officials said in a statement on social media about daybreak. Some crews remained on scene dousing hot spots.
