A suspect driving an allegedly stolen sports car led authorities on a pursuit from Gardena to downtown Los Angeles Thursday.
The motorist — with at least one passenger in the car — drove erratically on surface streets Thursday afternoon and at times pushed other vehicles aside in an attempt to escape traffic jams and elude officers. The driver narrowly missed several pedestrians and bicyclists as the chase moved through downtown streets.
At one point, the suspect briefly traveled on the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway before returning to downtown streets, circling wildly and ultimately pulling into a parking lot near Olive and Eighth streets shortly before 4 p.m.
An unconfirmed report from the scene indicated that two suspects were taken into custody in the garage.
