A man who was shot in one leg in the Echo Park area later told police he was injured falling off his skateboard, authorities said Monday.
The shooting was reported about 8:50 p.m. Sunday and apparently occurred at Sunset Boulevard and Benton Way, a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department Operations Center told City News Service.
The man, whose age was not available, was dropped off at a hospital by a civilian and an X-ray determined he had bullet fragments in one calf, the officer said.
He told medical professionals he was wounded at a concert, the officer said.
The man told officers who visited him at home that his leg was injured when he fell off his skateboard, the desk officer said.
