A 44-year-old felon suspected of domestic violence and child abuse was arrested after a SWAT team came to his residence in Westminster, police announced Tuesday.
Officers responded to the 5500 block of Garden Grove Boulevard, near the Garden Grove (22) Freeway, around 11:35 p.m. Monday regarding an alleged domestic violence between a husband and wife, according to the Westminster Police Department.
Detectives determined upon further investigation that Jeffrey Robert Wilson had assaulted his wife and allegedly threatened her with a weapon while a 12-year-old child was inside the residence.
“Due to potentially volatile circumstances, West County SWAT was activated and responded to the scene along with Westminster police detectives,” police said in a statement.
Wilson eventually cooperated with police and was taken into custody without incident.
Police said detectives recovered a firearm at the residence and booked Wilson at the Orange County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, child abuse, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and prohibited person owning a firearm.
