Two men were arrested in connection with a South Los Angeles area street takeover and a flash burglary at a nearby business in June, police said Friday.
The men were arrested Thursday by personnel from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force and the Street Racing Task Force, according to the LAPD.
The task forces investigate crimes involving retail thefts, possession and sale of stolen property and illegal street takeovers in the Los Angeles region, the LAPD said.
“The focus of the investigation was to locate two individuals who had been identified as suspects in the AutoZone flash burglary and street takeover that happened on June 10, 2024,” an LAPD statement said.
“On June 10, 2024, around 3:50 a.m., hundreds of individuals participated in a street takeover,” the LAPD statement said. “They arrived at Century Boulevard and Hoover Street, illegally blocked the flow of traffic and performed illegal and dangerous stunts — donuts and burnouts.
“Simultaneously, the AutoZone, located on the 600 block of West Century Boulevard was burglarized by approximately 50-75 of the street takeover participants,” the LAPD statement said. “The estimated loss of property was approximately $67,000.”
Adrian Vivero, 18, of Los Angeles was arrested at his residence and booked on suspicion of burglary, the LAPD said. Vivero was released on his own recognizance.
“A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of an unregistered firearm, over $10,500 of U.S. currency and various narcotics possessed for sales,” the police statement said.
Trevon Lexion, 39, also of Los Angeles was arrested in the Riverside County community of Hemet and booked on suspicion of burglary, the LAPD said. He was being held without bail.
“A search of his residence resulted in the seizure of evidence related to the burglary,” the police statement said.
