Rescue crews continued their search Thursday for a diver who was reported missing several hours earlier near the Port of Long Beach.

The diver was reported missing at around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday and was last seen near Pier J and 1600 S. Harbor Scenic Way. NBC 4 reported the Long Beach Fire Department requested assistance from the Los Angeles County Fire Department to help search for the diver around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Fox 11 reported the diver, who the station reported was a 28-year-old man, was in a boat with three other men. The three men later returned and told authorities the victim had fallen into the harbor.

Footage from NBC 4 showed lifeguard rescue boats patrolling the water near the Long Bach Harbor early Thursday morning and additional divers joined the search around 4:30 a.m.
