Authorities Monday identified a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and killed in a hit-and-run in Canoga Park.
The crash was reported about 5:15 p.m. Friday on De Soto Avenue north of Gresham Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Markus Caldwell, 41, of Canoga Park died at the scene, according to the LAPD and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
Caldwell was crossing westbound De Soto Avenue when he was struck by a gray or silver vehicle that was southbound on De Soto, police said. The driver failed to stop.
A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.
“Detectives are urging the public to come forward with information regarding this fatal hit and run,” an LAPD statement said. “There was a lot of traffic in the area of De Soto Avenue and Gresham Street at the time of the collision.”
