A reckless driving suspect was taken into custody Wednesday after being followed by authorities from the San Gabriel Valley to Santa Monica.

The vehicle was observed driving dangerously on Interstate 10 sometime Wednesday evening and California Highway Patrol officers followed the driver before backing off, according to CBS2.

Authorities observed the car from overhead as the motorist drove westbound on I-10 before exiting the freeway and driving on surface streets in the Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades area, occasionally reaching dangerous speeds.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the car stopped near the 20th Street off-ramp from the Santa Monica (10) Freeway and three people got out.

The driver was taken into custody a short time later. There was no immediate word on the two passengers, or on what charges the driver might face.
