A 61-year-old man died after he was struck by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk in the Vermont Knolls area of South Los Angeles, authorities said Monday.
The crash occurred about 7 p.m. Sunday at 81st and Hoover streets, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
The man was crossing eastbound on 81st Street in the middle of the crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle, the spokesman said.
The motorist remained at the scene and called for help, he said.
Paramedics rushed the man to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, said the spokesman.
There were no arrests, he said.
