Long Beach police took two firearms off the street within 20 minutes and arrested the people who possessed them, authorities said Friday.
Both cases occurred Thursday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
At 4:47 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Gale Avenue and recovered a handgun during the investigation, police said. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of being prohibited from possessing a firearm.
At 5:05 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious person call in the 1100 block of Loma Avenue and discovered the suspect was in possession of a handgun. That suspect was also prohibited from possessing a handgun and arrested, police said.
Both cases remained under investigation.
