A male pedestrian who fell onto a San Jacinto roadway was struck and killed by a passing vehicle, authorities said Friday.
The crash occurred at 6:12 p.m. Thursday on State Street south of Ramona Boulevard, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Patrick Lynch.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was standing on the side of the road and fell into the roadway, where he was struck by a passing vehicle,” Lynch said. The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
“Information obtained at the scene suggests that alcohol and/or drug impairment on the part of the pedestrian may have been a factor in the collision,” the sergeant said.
The pedestrian’s name was not released pending notification of relatives.
The RCSO asked that anyone with information regarding the crash call Deputy Postle at the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station at 951-654-2702 or Riverside County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951-776-1099.
