A motorist was killed and his passenger was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Palmdale, authorities said.
A Honda Accord was speeding northbound on Sierra Highway when it struck a light pole at Technology Drive about 12:40 a.m., according to a watch commander at the sheriff’s Palmdale station.
The motorist, a man about 25 to 30 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters and paramedics dispatched to the scene at 12:42 a.m. rushed one person, in critical condition, to a hospital, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher reported.
There was no other immediate information.
