A 23-year-old man who died when the vehicle he was driving went off the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and crashed into a tree, bursting into flames was publicly identified Monday.
Henry Melgar died at the scene from blunt force trauma, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at approximately 11:09 p.m. Thursday to the northbound freeway, near the Imperial Highway on-ramp, where the vehicle had spun out of control on the freeway. The vehicle had slammed into a tree and was engulfed in flames, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
