The rider of an electric bicycle was seriously injured early Saturday in Torrance by a hit-and-run driver who was later arrested.
The crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Hawthorne and Artesia boulevards, Torrance Police Department Lt. Fareed Ahmad told City News Service.
Paramedics rushed the injured cyclist to a hospital for treatment, Ahmad said.
“We were able to find and detain the driver,” he said. That suspect was taken into custody.
There was no description provided of either the suspect or the victim.
There was a lengthy investigation at the scene due to the seriousness of the rider’s injuries, Ahmad said. The intersection was reopened after several hours.
