An 81-year-old woman who went missing from Long Beach was found safe and unharmed in that city and was reunited with her family Saturday.

Billie Jean Donaldson was previously last seen about 4 p.m. Friday near Atlantic Avenue and Aloha Circle, according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued a Silver Alert on behalf of the Long Beach Police Department.

Donaldson, who has memory issues and may become disoriented, left her home in the 6400 block of Atlantic Avenue on foot, with a possible destination of the city of Carson, according to Long Beach police.

The details about how she was located were not disclosed.

The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
