Police Monday released the name of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and killed in Long Beach last month.

Carleton Carlson, 77, of Long Beach, died at a hospital after being struck at 7:25 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue and Atherton Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Carlson was walking east ”in the roadway” on Palo Verde when he was hit in traffic lanes by a 2015 Toyota Camry being driven north on Palo Verde, police said.

The driver stopped as required and was cooperative following the crash, police said. Neither speed to reckless driving were suspected.

Carlson, whose death was reported to police on March 2, was reported to be in ”critical but stable” when taken to a hospital later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
