The 22-year-old skateboarder struck and killed by a van in Koreatown was identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner as 22-year-old Oscar Lopez.

Lopez was struck 5:45 a.m. Thursday by a 2017 Ford Transit van traveling westbound on Sixth Street, west of Catalina Street, without stopping to render aid to the victim, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The impact caused Lopez to become airborne before landing on the north sidewalk of Sixth Street, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location to administer lifesaving measures, but despite their efforts, pronounced Lopez dead at the scene.

“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a traffic collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” police said in a statement.
