A fire that broke out Tuesday in a Lake Elsinore home caused extensive damage, injuring the occupant, who was also displaced.
The blaze was reported about noon in the 15100 block Etienne Street, near Bourges Street, on the north end of the city, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered heavy smoke and flame around the roof of the single-story house.
The man residing there was able to get out of the structure without being burned, but he suffered smoke inhalation, officials said. He was taken to nearby Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment and was expected to recover.
Firefighters completely knocked down the blaze at 12:25 p.m.
Due to damage to the property, it was declared uninhabitable. Red Cross personnel were requested to assist the victim with finding temporary alternate lodgings.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
