A 23-year-old woman suffered severe injuries in a hit-and-run collision near Arlington Heights, and police sought the public’s help Wednesday in locating the suspect.
The incident occurred around 10:35 p.m. Friday as the woman was walking in a crosswalk on Crenshaw Boulevard, north of the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway onramp, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. A pickup truck heading southbound on Crenshaw struck her and left the scene without stopping to render aid, police said.
Paramedics took the woman to a hospital with severe, unspecified injuries. Her condition was not immediately known.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a traffic collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” the police department said in a statement.
The city is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.
The hit-and-run collision was being investigated by West Traffic Division detectives Wednesday afternoon.
