A 45-year-old man who was killed when he was struck by a vehicle that was involved in a collision with another vehicle while he and another victim were walking on a sidewalk in the Westlake area of Los Angeles was identified by county authorities Friday.
The victim was identified as Todd Cawyer, according to the Los Angels County Medical Examiner.
The collision occurred at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday at Eighth and Alvarado streets, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.
A vehicle that was driving southbound on Alvarado Street collided with a vehicle that was westbound on Eighth Street, the officer said.
The impact sent the southbound vehicle careening onto the sidewalk on the southwest corner of the intersection and into Cawyer and the second man, he said.
Paramedics rushed the injured pedestrians to a hospital, where Cawyer was pronounced dead and the other man was listed in critical condition, the officer said.
The conditions of the two drivers was not available.
