Crews rescued a dog from a burning home Wednesday in East Hollywood, and a suspect was detained in connection with the fire, authorities said.

The blaze was reported around 9:45 a.m. at a one-story duplex in the 800 block of North Kenmore Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

All residents safely evacuated before firefighters arrived, authorities said.

One dog was rescued from the home and treated at the scene, according to the department. There were also unconfirmed reports that a litter of puppies was saved.

More than two dozen firefighters contained the flames in about 14 minutes, according to the LAFD.

Arson investigators responded, and a suspect was taken into custody, fire officials said.
