The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Thursday sought possible victims harassed or assaulted while hiking at Mount Baldy or the surrounding San Gabriel Mountains area.

A threatening encounter was reported to have happened as recently as Friday, according to the sheriff’s San Dimas station. There were no details available regarding an alleged Jan. 12 incident.

About 10 a.m. Friday, a woman returning to her vehicle after a hike with her dog at Mount Baldy near Dry Lake Canyon was allegedly confronted by Patrick Flynn, 66. She claims Flynn threw branches and exclaimed that the forest was his home.

It was unclear how authorities identified the man as Flynn, and it was not immediately known if he had been arrested.

Flynn was described as a 6-foot tall, 170-pound white male with blue eyes and gray hair, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. He is considered extremely dangerous and has been known to carry large knives.

Anyone who has been harassed or attacked, or may know of someone who has, was urged to call the sheriff’s San Dimas station at 909-450-2700. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or go to lacrimestoppers.org.
