A 62-year-old Huntington Beach man was charged Thursday with repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl over nine years.
Michael James Salter, who was arrested Tuesday, was charged with eight felony counts of sexually assaulting the girl, including one count of rape and continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to the criminal complaint.
Salter was accused of assaulting the girl from July 2010 through Jan. 1, 2019, according to the complaint. He was accused of raping the girl in July 2018.
Huntington Beach police referred questions to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Salter did not enter a plea at his hearing Thursday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. He was scheduled to be arraigned June 13 in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
