A 56-year-old driver who was killed when a vehicle slammed into the back of a fire truck on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Claremont was identified by county authorities Wednesday.

California Highway Patrol officers were called at 4:37 a.m. Tuesday to the eastbound freeway at Mills Avenue, where they found a Toyota Tundra had rear-ended the fire truck, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

The victim was identified by the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner as Gilbert Green. Green was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP issued a Sigalert for two lanes of the freeway while they investigated the collision. All lanes were reopened by 8:20 a.m. Tuesday.
