A 69-year-old grandfather and his 2-year-old grandson were both reported missing after being last seen Wednesday in Long Beach, and police sought the public’s assistance in locating them.
Tri Ung was last seen around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday sitting in a white Lexus SUV with California license plate 8AOT629, along with his grandson, Christopher Yin, in the 3700 block of South Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Family members checked on the two and realized that the vehicle, along with Ung and Christopher, was missing.
“When the family returned to the vehicle, both missing persons and the vehicle were gone,” LBPD officials said in a statement.
Ung is believed to be unfamiliar with the area and does not have a cell phone or any type of tracking device to help locate him or Christopher.
Detectives described Ung as a 5-foot-6-inch-tall Asian man weighing 172 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with multi-colored pants.
Christopher was described as a 2-foot-tall Asian boy weighing 30 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with blue sleeves and brown shorts.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the two was urged to contact the LBPD Missing Persons Detail at 562-570-7246 or dispatch at 562-435-6711. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
