Two homeless men suspected of fatally stabbing a 58-year-old man during an altercation in Riverside have been arrested, police announced Tuesday.

Officers responded to the 9900 block of Magnolia Avenue, near Harrison Street, at approximately 7:20 a.m. Sunday, where they discovered a man suffering from stab wounds, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Riverside Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location a short time later to take the victim to a hospital, where he later died.

Authorities later identified him as 58-year-old Michael Pope of Riverside. Robbery-Homicide Unit detectives, along with Forensics Unit investigators, assisted with identifying and arresting both suspects in the fatal stabbing, police said.

Investigators identified one suspect as 36-year-old Christopher James Buschbaum, who was found at the intersection of Harrison Street and Magnolia Avenue.

The second suspect, 67-year-old Myron Daniels, was apprehended at a nearby location, police said.

Both suspects were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of murder and were being held without bail.

“This was a senseless act of violence, but thanks to the quick actions of our dispatchers in obtaining critical information, the swift response by our officers, and the thorough investigative work by our homicide detectives, these two murder suspects are off the street,” Investigations Division Capt. Chad Milby said in a statement.
