A burglary suspect in a stolen vehicle led sheriff’s deputies on a chase Wednesday before crashing in Norwalk and refusing to surrender, leading to an hours-long standoff, authorities said.

Deputies responded about 7:45 a.m. to a report of a commercial burglary in the 15300 block of Norwalk Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The suspect allegedly took the keys from a commercial vehicle and led deputies on a brief chase that ended when the suspect crashed into a truck near the Rosecrans Avenue exit on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway, a deputy told City News Service.

The suspect refused to exit the vehicle, and crisis negotiation and special enforcement teams were called to the scene.

The suspect surrendered without further incident at about 10:50 a.m., according to the sheriff’s department.

No injuries were immediately reported.
