A 9-year-old boy was struck and killed by a recreational vehicle and a 19-year-old man was injured during a collision in Koreatown Thursday evening. Both were riding scooters.
Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded to the 300 block of South New Hampshire Avenue, one block west of Vermont Avenue, at approximately 7:25 p.m. Thursday where they found the victims, LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said.
LAFD paramedics took the 9-year-old to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman told City News Service. The second victim was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the LAPD. The driver remained at the scene to cooperate with officers, police said.
