A naked screaming woman driving an SUV, who led officers on a short chase Tuesday before stopping in West Los Angeles and refusing to get out of the vehicle for about four hours, finally surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody.

The trouble began around 6:45 a.m., when police got a call about a screaming woman, possibly with no clothes on, in the 11000 block of Ovada Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A chase began at 6:52 and ended two minutes later on Sepulveda Boulevard near Montana Avenue, an LAPD spokesman said.

The Ford Bronco the woman was driving was blocked by a number of squad cars, and around 10 a.m., three military-style SWAT vehicles moved in and penned in the SUV.

The standoff came to an end about 10:45 a.m., when the woman climbed out of the blocked driver-side window, moved over the roof and hood of the Bronco, and was taken into custody on the passenger side of the SUV.

Sepulveda and Montana were both closed during the standoff, and traffic was snarled for much of the morning rush on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway.
