One person was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision near the Los Angeles-Glendale border near Griffith Park.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the transition road from the westbound Ventura (134) Freeway to the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, where they found a BMW sedan and a gray sedan blocking several lanes of the transition road, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

The victim, whose name, age and gender is not immediately known, was pronounced dead at the scene, Garcia said.

NBC 4 reported one of the vehicles burst into flames after the collision.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said the victim who died in the crash was trapped inside the car and fire personnel were unable to rescue them in time. ABC 7 reported a second victim was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.

A Siglert was issued for the closure of all lanes of the transition road from the 134 to the 5 freeways for two hours while the CHP investigated the cause of the collision. Traffic was diverted to San Fernando Road.
