Prosecutors are scheduled to file felony charges Wednesday against a 33-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a Wildomar resident and trying to kill another.
David Rodolfo Jimenez Osornio of Wildomar was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center Saturday on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, following a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department investigation.
The case was under review Tuesday by the District Attorney’s Office.
According to sheriff’s Sgt. Alberto Loureiro, shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, Osornio was involved in an unspecified confrontation with 64-year-old Jesus Monge at a residence in the 24000 block of Orange Street.
During the encounter, Osornio allegedly pulled a handgun and shot Monge, Loureiro said.
A 56-year-old woman at the residence was also shot by the suspect, the sergeant alleged.
Witnesses called 911, and patrol deputies and paramedics arrived minutes later, finding Monge dead and the woman seriously wounded.
“Deputies located the suspect in the area and detained him,” Loureiro said.
The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment and was in stable condition Tuesday.
A possible motive for the alleged attack was not provided, and there was no word regarding how the suspect and victims knew one another.
Background information on Osornio also was unavailable.
