Police in Long Beach Tuesday asked the public for help identifying the driver in a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian with fatal injuries.
The crash occurred at about 2 a.m. on Aug. 15, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue and upon arrival found Long Beach Fire Department personnel treating a man in critical condition who was soon taken to a hospital.
“The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries two days later,” according to an LBPD statement.
Detectives were notified of the death on Friday.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that a white Chrysler was traveling southbound on Atlantic Avenue when it struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway,” police said. “Following the collision, the Chrysler continued southbound, failing to stop and render aid.”
The victim was a resident of Long Beach. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.
