A man was killed after a tow truck driver stopped to assist a motorist stopped on the Harbor (110) Freeway Tuesday in South Los Angeles, causing lane closures that lasted nearly six hours.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at approximately 1:37 a.m. Tuesday to the southbound freeway and the West Florence Avenue exit where they found a pedestrian, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The victim – a man whose name and age were not immediately disclosed – was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of all lanes of the southbound freeway at the Florence exit for over four hours, finally opening two lanes around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday.
All were reopened about 7 a.m.
