A 47-year-old man suspected of vandalizing the Coachella Valley branch of the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office in Indio fled onto the roof of a building Monday, prompting a police standoff, but was eventually taken into custody.

Sean Allen Camba of Temecula was booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of vandalism, assault with a deadly weapon and delaying a peace officer, and he also has an active felony warrant, according to the Indio Police Department.

His bail was set at $25,000.

According to Sgt. Abraham Plata, officers responded to the District Attorney’s Office branch on Highway 111 in Indio at about 8:45 a.m. Monday on a report of vandalism. The nature of the vandalism was unclear.

Police said a witness followed the suspect, who allegedly vandalized additional property then climbed onto the roof of a building in the 83000 block of Highway 111, prompting a standoff with police, including a SWAT team.

Around 2 p.m., several flash-bangs were thrown at the rooftop of the Sunline building, and officers apprehended Camba, who was evaluated by paramedics at the scene but was not injured.

Camba was arrested at 2:07 p.m., Plata said.

Highway 111 between Salton Street and Golf Center Parkway was closed during the standoff, but later reopened.
